Roulette - How to Play Roulette

One of the mainstays of casinos has always been the Roulette wheel. Every casino has Roulette tables, and many online gaming sites offer Roulette as well. How exactly does Roulette work? Roulette is really quite a simple game, and offers a number of different bets that may pique your interest.

A Roulette table consists of a felt board with 36 numbers, 18 red and 18 black, laid out on a grid. At the top of the board are a green Zero and Double Zero (Only American Roulette tables have the Double Zero). On the sides of the board are additional bet options, such as red or black, odd or even, 1-18, 19-36, 1st 12, 2nd 12, 3rd 12, and 1st Column, 2nd Column, 3rd Column. There is also a wheel which has all of the numbers printed above tiny slots where the Roulette ball can fall.

To play, simply place (or in the case of an online roulette table, drag) the amount of chips you want to bet on the table. You can play one number, which pays 35 to 1, two numbers, which is called a split bet and pays 17 to 1, three numbers, or a street bet, which pays 11 to 1, four numbers, also called a square or corner bet, which pays 8 to 1, five numbers (0,00,1,2 and 3) paying 6 to 1, or six numbers (line bet), which pays 5 to 1. On the side, you can bet the first half of the numbers, the second half, black, red, odd or even, which all pay even money. 1st, 2nd or 3rd 12 numbers or 1st, 2nd, or 3rd column which all pay 2 to 1.

Once your chips have been placed, the croupier spins the wheel, and spins the ball in the opposite direction in a rut beneath the top of the wheel. He will announce "no more bets" after which no chips can be placed. Eventually the ball bounces around the wheel and lands in one of the slots. The number above that slot is the winning number, and bets are paid accordingly.

Where does the House get its edge? The payouts are determined according to the likelihood of each number coming up, without taking the Zeroes into account (this is why if you can find a Roulette wheel with only one Zero as opposed to a Double Zero, you should play at that table). The odds of your number coming out are 1 in 36 if no Zeros are present, so a single number pays out at 35 to 1. However because of the Zeroes, the true odds of hitting your number are 1 in 38, or 37 to 1, and therein lies the edge.

Some casinos also show the number history, that is, what the last twenty or so numbers to hit were. Players may look at this and decide certain numbers are "due" or "unlucky." Of course in reality there is no relationship between what has been spun before and what will spin next, but many superstitious players may not be convinced of this.

When you play Roulette either live or online, feel free to experiment with the different kinds of bets you can make. Since the odds on all of them are about the same relative to the true odds, there is no one bet on the Roulette wheel that is particularly better than any other, so find the ones you think are the most fun and go to it.

Roulette - Roulette Strategy - Can You Really Win?

Roulette, mathematically speaking is impossible to bet; or so everybody assumes. But when we delve into the mathematics of roulette it becomes possible to understand that a perfected roulette strategy is possible.

Indeed by analysing the table lay-out and odds, I have devised a roulette strategy that is 99.4% accurate.

The roulette player must comprehend the house advantage when operating a roulette strategy. ANY strategy should only be performed on a European Roulette Table due to the marginal house edge in comparison to the USA version. The house average is the amount the player will lose relative to the bets he's placed. Obviously, the house has an advantage of 37/1 over the player. The expected value is thus:

-1*36/37 + 35*1/37 = -0.0270 (2.70% House Advantage)

Any effective roulette strategy should endeavour to alter the value of this house edge. After all, the house advantage is minimal and not excessive in comparison to a single number outlay. The developer of a roulette strategy must seek to understand the logistics of such mathematics and compile the roulette strategy around those figures, and NOT a random number sequence.

On completion, a solid roulette strategy should have been developed.

This doesn't mean a strategy is inflammable. Instead, the player should be aware of the house edge on each spin of the wheel (as is demonstrated in by strategy below), and place bets accordingly. Operating an understated and under evaluated roulette strategy is inexcusable. As a player you simply hand-over to the casino, the cash you've worked for.

So to answer the title of this piece: 'Roulette Strategy - Can You Really Win?' Yes you can, but you must understand the precise nature of a roulette strategy before embarking on its usage. Question the proprietor; seek answers on the construction, the mathematical composition and the actual odds of the bets being placed. Many roulette strategies are after all designed to generate a profit for the proprietor and not the player (my roulette strategy is free), and accordingly have no mathematical relevance attached to their structures.

In conclusion, ONLY ever operate a roulette strategy that details exactly how it has been designed to displace the house edge and shift the equilibrium to the player's advantage. Once this is performed correctly you have succeeded.

Roulette - Craps Strategy - Never Played Craps, It Offers Some Of The Best Odds In The Casino For The Educated

Craps is the casinos fastest game and with the noise at the table can be intimidating to the newcomer. However craps is also one of the best games to play as you can reduce the house edge (expected casino profit) down to almost zero. Once you get into the swing of craps you will soon understand the betting patterns and learn the correct craps strategy to make profitable bets at the craps table.

Unlike roulette where the house odds are fixed a good craps strategy can get the odds to almost even money. If you then can bet correctly when the dice are rolling for you the increase in profits can be huge.

In Vegas I once saw a hot roller turn $200 into $10,000 in less than an hour.

Like all casino games if you have the wrong or indeed no strategy at all then the game will beat you whether it is roulette, blackjack, craps or baccarat to name a few.

Good craps strategy involves placing a bet that you cannot even see on the craps table. You will have access to a lot of bets including the proposition bets but quite seriously these should be avoided at all costs as they are just giving money away.

The strategy you need to win at craps involves placing what are known as free odds bets. I will summarize here quickly for you.

The first roll of the game is called the come out roll, and you should place your bet on the pass line. Once this bet is placed and a number has been thrown to form the point, then you can make a free odds bet behind your original bet. This bet will be paid off at the true odds by the casino. You will see some casinos paying 2x odds and now as competition hots up you can get up to 100x odds. If you place your bets like this at a 100x casino then your bet is practically even money, giving the house no edge, even at 2x odds the casino is only operating at an edge of 0.6%, press your winning rolls and the money floods in.

If you are new to craps, never played before or just starting out, I recommend you try this game as a source of gambling income, but don't just leap in. To learn this strategy and become a winning craps player (up to $2000 a session) getting advice from a true craps professional, Michael Stone visit the site below in my resource box.

Roulette - The Secrets of Having a Controlled Attitude

Pssst...! Wanna know a secret?

How about the secret of having a controlled attitude?

You might be tipping the dealers, calling them by name, and be close friends with your Casino Host. You are doing very well, starting to win a lot of money. But suddenly the dealers turn against you, and start a campaign of harassment that ends in either your sevening out, or worse, them taking the dice from you and giving it to another shooter.

Wanna know the secret that craps pros use to maintain a controlled attitude?

Let's find out!

When you play craps you should remember that the table personnel are people with their own problems and desires. Sometimes, casino management looks at their employees just as revenue sources. And sometimes, some crews make more money than other crews. If, for example, one boxman had the misfortune to be at several tables that have lost a lot of money, he might be considered to be "unlucky" even though it is certainly not his fault. And if this particular boxman ends up at your table, you will not do as well as you would at another table with a different, more easy-going person.

This boxman may talk to you and have the other dealers talk to you before and during your shoot. You might see the stickman hit the dice with his stick, "by accident." A drink girl could spill a drink on you, also "by accident." These things don't happen very often, but they do happen. And these aren't the worst things that can happen. The boxman has the power to simply take the dice from you and not let you shoot at all, because you are "slowing down the game."

The thing to remember is that this is just one person out of hundreds of casino employees who has had a bad experience in the past, and he is letting this experience control his attitude towards your shooting.

The most important attitude here however, is not the boxman's, but yours. If you are to continue playing, even at a different table, you can not let a casino employee rattle you. You don't want to end up giving your hard-won money back to the casino. You need to go to your calming place and relax. Go back to your room and remember the good times you had in this casino, and all the comps you received over the last several years. Take a break. Read a magazine. Calm down. You can not let the boxman's attitude take control of yours!

You are the only person who should control you.

Whether it takes one hour or one day, you should not play again until your attitude is controlled, and you are sure you can perform to the best of your abilities.

When the incident is totally forgotten, it is time to attack the tables again. When your attitude is controlled by you and not the casino, you will win, and not the casino!

Pssst...! Now you know the secret of having a controlled attitude!

Roulette - Roulette Wheel Bias

It is the dream of every gambler to have a system; a system that allows him to take a casino for a considerable amount of money. For some people, it was no dream...

Albert R. Hibbs was a noted mathematician. In 1949, he and fellow graduate student Roy Walford, took time away from school and went to Nevada. Their aim was to study the roulette wheel bias of Las Vegas and Reno casinos, then exploit that mathematical "edge" and win big. They were said to have made over $42,000. in their schemes.

The idea of a biased wheel is not new. Because some roulette wheels are not properly balanced, the ball is often thrown into some areas more than others; more than random mathematical probability. By studying the wheel and it's results for a long period, certain numbers show a higher percentage of winners than others, and they are bet upon more frequently by those who gather and analyze this information.

Joe Jagger was a British engineer who, in the late 1800's, earned the title of: The Man Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo. (Yes, he is a distant relative of Mick Jagger.) Another gambler and possibly more famous still, was Charles Wells. He too had the title. Both gamblers found and exploited biased roulette wheels in Monte Carlo's famed "Casino." Wells was also a con man responsible for bilking hundreds of people on bogus inventions. He died broke in France, after having spent several prison terms in two different countries.

As late as 1970, a woman named Carol Jarecki and her husband studied and played roulette wheels in Monte Carlo and San Remo, making a series of very successful runs on those biased roulette wheels. So even in this "modern era" of gambling, it seems that there are still a few places where the roulette wheels are not checked nearly often enough.

The new way casinos avoid bias is by recording every spin on a computer program. The program analyzes then reports any bias to casino management. Once reported, the wheel is serviced and the bias is removed. This system is used in only the larger casinos, but it's a safe bet that even the smaller casinos would simply send you packing if you won too much. Bias or no.

Roulette - Roulette basics

James bond plays it and so does a large part of America. A table a wheel which has about 37-38 pockets many pockets where the ball must land after it is spun by the croupier. The scene is really common at the casino setups across America. The players with high adrenaline pumping and high risk bearing capacity are expected to be seen around the roulette table trying their luck with spinning dolly. The croupier, or the dealer representing the house, takes the wagers and pays out all bets at the table. The croupier has no personal stake in the roulette game. The game has seen its popularity grow due to the reason that as the wheel slows down the people are more and more betting on the numbers.

Beginners bet on up to 8 numbers with smaller stakes. The champions however take greater risks. The bets are allowed on the table till the croupier gives a signal to the players regarding the bets to be stopped. The people are allowed to take a pick of 8 numbers and any of the tem winning gets a share of the other stakes and thus he gets the chips to be converted into money at the counter. As the wheel is slowing down the accuracy of the number where the dolly stops increases. And thus the stakes sky rocket at the end of the wheel spin. The bigger bets include the betting on the number along with color of its base. If they are matched then the prize too is multiplied. Thus the players prefer to take different combinations of colors and numbers and thus increasing the probability of win.

What makes the game nerve wrecking is that there is no rule of winning it. So there is no trick or system of betting that maximizes your chances of a win. So if one fine morning if one feels lucky then he can try his hand at the roulette table that evening. It's just as simple. All you need is a load of luck and some amount of experience to understand a particular roulette table. This fact also repels some people from the game as it attracts. Bu the game has not lost its charisma among the fortunate ones. The roulette tables are the ones with the most visitors lined up for the bet. The game is played with utmost etiquette and the winners are expected not to over react as there is no big trick or tact to win the game. The simple rule is that if you are winning it its sheer luck and if you are loosing it's just the same.

People have been seen getting robbed off their whole money at the game of roulette and some times the person gets so crazy playing it that he just looses the track of his capabilities and there are examples where the player almost lost their homes at the roulette table.

A lot of attachments come with the thrill of the game. Allegations of rigging the wheel to tempering the dolly have been rampant across the 200 year old history of the game. But the game has not lost its following throughout the world. A casino without roulette tables is not imaginable at all. Roulette has seen people rise and fall and historians have seen it in the same manner. But for sure the game is here to stay in all its glory.

Roulette - Roulette Strategies - The 10 Commandments for Bigger Profits!

You will see many roulette strategies on the net.

Here we have gathered the 10 most important strategies for playing roulette and maximising your profits.

If you follow these roulette strategies you will be well on your way to playing like a pro.

Therefore, here are your 10 roulette strategies for greater profits:

1. Know the Game

Of all our roulette strategies, this is perhaps the most obvious one.

Take a little time to learn the game, the rules, the odds of roulette and all the bets etc so you know exactly what to expect when you start to play.

2. Realise That Roulette is a Game of Chance

Roulette balls have no memory; each spin is unrelated to the last spin and has no influence on the next spin. If a ball lands on black the chances of it lading on black next time are 50 - 50.

If the ball lands on black 100 times in a row, the chances of it landing on black on next spin still remain 50 - 50!

This is very important; each spin is an independent event.

If you understand this you won't fall prey to the common misconception that a number is "due" because it hasn't come up for a while.

3. Don't Use a System

If roulette is a game of chance, then by its very nature roulette system cannot work, as there is no reliable past data you can base a system on!

4. Play European Roulette Only

Do you want to get the odds in your favour straight away? Then play the European wheel, which has a house edge of just 2.70%. These are far better odds than the American wheel, which has a house advantage of 5.26%!

5. Play the Best Bets

The best bets are those whose odds are low, i.e. red, or black. These odds allow you to win nearly half the time, so they give you the best chance of winning!

Look also to play this bet where the en prison rule is offered on even-money bets. The house edge on even money bets with the en prison rule and single zero is just 1.35% making it the best bet on the table.

6. Avoid the Worst Bets

Avoid all single number bets and the five number bet of 0, 00, 1, 2, 3 (another reason not to play American wheels) with a terrible edge against the player of 7.89%. Don't place these bets.

7. Manage Your Money Correctly

Set your bankroll in advance and only play what you are prepared to lose. Once you have finished playing that's it. Don't ever chase your loses.

8. Don't Believe Myths

A couple of myths are: Luck will change, and a number is due a hit. These myths are widely believed and lead to greater losses for players.

They all stem from players believing that roulette is not a game of chance and there is some way of influencing the outcome of the next spin.

You can't influence where the ball will land so don't believe these common myths!

9. Know Your Motivation for Playing the Game

Why are you playing the game? Check your motivation! If you want a fun and an exciting time then roulette is hard to beat. If however, you want to make money, play a game like blackjack, where the odds are more in your favour.

10. Have Fun!

It's not really a strategy, but it is the overriding reason you should play a game like roulette - enjoy!

Roulette - Online Roulette Systems - The Myths Uncovered

Every day we come across more and more sites that purport to share the biggest gambling secret of all: the infallible roulette system that guarantees you limitless winning opportunities at the roulette wheel. Not to mention the spam that falls in my inbox every week that follows a similar message.

So lets blow away some of these myths. The first question you need to ask yourself is this: if there really was a watertight method of beating the wheel, would the casinos still offer roulette? Of course not. The bottom line is that the casino has an advantage in roulette (between 2.6% and 5.2% depending on whether you play European Roulette or American Roulette).

What this means is that over the long term, and averaging out many players, the casino rakes in more that it pays out. Of course individuals win (much like they do at the lottery). The difference is that the casino always wins over the long term. Call it a tax that they charge for operating an entertainment service if you like.

Now if you see a system that asks you to pay up front for a guaranteed system, avoid it like the plague! Generally speaking (and not just in roulette), is something seems too good to be true, it probably is. If you are interested in finding out more information on roulette systems try our site Online Roulette UK. We have lots of free systems posted on the site.

What we do like about roulette systems, is the fact that they are systems. By that we mean that they encourage you to play more methodically which is always a good thing. Playing roulette with your head is ALWAYS better than playing with your heart. Play rationally and not emotionally!

Some of the more famous systems are the Martingale, the D'Alemebert, The Labouchere (as used by James Bond- but remember it was in a movie!) and the Fibonacci Sequence.

NONE of these system will alter your odds one iota- this is a function of the physical attributes of the wheel. But understand these systems and their limitations, and they can be fun to test out.

So, in summary-

Roulette systems don't change your odds at roulette They can help you play methodically Always play with your thinking hat on rather than betting with your gut! Given the choice, play European Roulette over American Roulette. The odds are better.

As with all forms of casino entertainment, our advice is to treat it as such: entertainment. Set yourself a budget with which you are prepared to spend to enjoy yourself. Then if you happen to win, it's an added bonus!

Roulette - Roulette Software - Can You Win Using It?

Roulette is a mathematically perfect game. It is important that anyone playing the game remembers that. Roulette systems and scams have been present almost as long as the game itself, and the roulette wheel has seen them all off. Unlike games like blackjack where casinos can alter the rules by bringing in more decks or introducing the shuffle earlier, roulette is purely you against the ball and wheel, with 37 or 38 possible outcomes each spin depending on the type of roulette wheel you are playing at. The casinos don't need to change anything.

The latest craze is roulette software. The advent of online casinos has seen the availability of roulette only a click away. This availability has led to a new wave of scams, software that can predict where the ball will finish. These programmes rely on nothing more than the same principle than a human being does when viewing the past numbers that a roulette wheel has generated. You enter the last number drawn and the software calculates where to place your bet. This will be based on number patterns of how the previous roulette spins happened nothing else.

Online casino roulette is driven by a RNG, random number generator. By law these have to meet two criteria, each number must have an equal chance of being drawn randomly and each number must be drawn independently of every other number picked. As an example if a RNG was set to draw the numbers 1,2 and 3 and the first two numbers out were 1 and 2, the next number must be 3? Rule one, each number must have the same chance of being chosen, rule 2 the previous draws do not have a bearing on the next number drawn. That way we can never know what the next number will be.

As a professional gambler who has tried many roulette systems, including software, the likelihood of any software beating the casino is very rare. If it did the casinos would soon go bust, change the game or even remove it all together.

Roulette - 10 Tips for Sports Gambling

1) Be Careful of Scams - Be extremely careful if sports books are calling you and offering gambling packages over the phone. This is a good way to get scammed, especially if they ask you for your credit card number. If possible, it is a good idea to do business with a sports book that will not contact you over the phone about promotional offers or bonuses. This makes it easier to weed out scam artists.

2) Know the Rules - If you plan to open a sports book account online, it is a very good idea to read all the rules. In fact, I would advise you to read them twice. Less reputable books will try to stick it to you in the fine print. It is also a good idea to make sure sports books have multiple avenues for correspondence.

3) Shop for Numbers - Different sports books will often offer different numbers on different sports. This can make a huge difference when it comes time to place your bet. While a league like the NFL will often have similar lines at most books, other sports like NCAA, MLB, and the NBA will often vary. Since books usually adjust the lines according to the betting patterns of their customers, you can sometimes find up to a two or three point difference on the lines. A couple of points difference can often be the difference between winning and losing a bet, so take the time to look around.

4) Shop for Odds - For those of you who like to bet on parlays and teasers, you know that there's a lot of money to be made on such wagers. But did you know that many books have different odds? These variations can translate into a huge difference on your payout, so it will serve you well to shop around and find the best odds.

5) Find a Niche - The sports books have to attempt to keep up with every sport. In some cases, this can mean that certain less popular sporting events or games are only given minimal attention. As a bettor, you do not have this disadvantage. In fact, it would serve you well to find a niche and study it exhaustively. Take sports like boxing and mixed martial arts, for example. The books have to concentrate on NCAA football and the NFL, but they may not pay as close attention to these events. Use this to your advantage. If you know more about what is going on than the bookmaker, then you are in a prime position to place a winning bet.

6) Know Your Sports Book - Find out about a sports book's reputation before you place a bet with them (or before you give them your credit card information). If you're not sure, then ask questions. You can even find betting forums on the Internet and get opinions there. Remember, when it comes to a book's reputation, there are no stupid questions.

7) Trust Your Instincts - If the book you're using is making you uncomfortable or something doesn't feel right, then choose another. There are too many books out there to use one which makes you feel uneasy.

8) Bet at the Right Time - Professional bettors often tend to bet on underdogs, and they almost always bet on them early. Less skilled gamblers will often bet closer to the start of a sporting event, and they are prone to bet on the favorites. If you choose to bet on a favorite, it's a good idea to place your bet early in the week when the pros are betting on the underdogs. If you want to bet on an underdog, then it's a good idea to bet as late as possible, when the suckers are betting on the favorites. This doesn't work all the time, but it can be a useful rule of thumb.

9) Protect Your Account - If you maintain an online sports book account, change your password occasionally and write it down. There's no point in taking an unnecessary risk.

10) Be Realistic - If a bonus sounds too good to be true, it probably is. When betting on sports, it's important to keep a realistic mindset. Looking to get something for nothing will usually cost you in the long run.

Roulette - The Secret of Grinding Out a Profit

Pssst...Wanna know a secret?

How about the secrets of grinding out a profit?

The term "grinding" means making a small amount of money on a consistent basis. Many dealers look at grinders with derision because they make bets and then take them down after each one hits, which means constant work for the poor dealers. These dealers can spot a grinder right away because they never press bets and are satisfied with one small profit on each shooter. But can you really make a consistent profit with grinding?

Let's find out!

One way to grind out profits is to bet don't-come and make a corresponding place bet on the same number. If you have a $10 don't-come that goes to the six or eight, you can place the same number for $6. If the seven rolls (which is favored) you'll win $10 (and lose $6), but if the six rolls you'll only lose $3 instead of $10.

If the point is four or ten, you can place either number for $5 to balance out your $10 don't-come. If the seven rolls now you'll win $5 ($10 - $5), but if the four/ten rolls you only lose $1 ($9 - $10) instead of $10.

Finally, with a five or nine point, you can also place either number for $5 to balance out your $10 don't come. If the seven rolls you'll win $5 ($10 -$5), but if the 5/9 rolls you only lose $3 ($7 - $10) instead of $10.

If you bet at a higher level, you can make bets that will win if either the point or the seven rolls. For example, if you have a $25 don't-come that goes to the six or eight, you can place either number for $24. If the seven rolls you win $25 and lose $24, giving you a $1 profit. And, if the 6/8 rolls, you win $28 and lose $25, which still gives you a profit of $3.

You can use the same $25 don't-come on a 5/9 point, and place either number for $20. If the seven rolls you win $25 and lose $20, giving you $5. If the 5/9 rolls, you win $28 and lose $25, which gives you a $3 profit.

Finally, with a $25 don't-come on a 4/10 point, you can place either number for $15. If the seven rolls you win $25 and lose $15, giving you a $10 profit. If the 4/10 roll, you win $27 and lose $25, which still puts you $2 ahead.

Of course, the main disadvantage to all of these don't bets is that you're vulnerable to the seven or eleven while you're in the don't-come box. You can protect this don't-come bet in a number of ways. The most common is by laying the four and/or ten and then removing them when the bet is placed. See my articles on don't betting for other methods of protecting your don't-come bet.
